
Jason J. Gauvin, PT, MS, LAT, ATC, SCS, CSCS
Jason J. Gauvin, PT, MS, LAT, ATC, SCS, CSCS is the owner and President of Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center. He was a former senior level II sports physical therapist at Duke University Sports Medicine Physical Therapy in Durham, North Carolina. Jason currently is responsible for day to day operations of Athletic Advantage, Inc. specifically daily patient care, including community, high school, collegiate and professional athletes. Jason specializes in the treatment of orthopedic and sports injuries to the knee, shoulder and ankle, including the prevention of athletic injuries. Mr. Gauvin is active in lecturing nationally on topics related to orthopedic and sports physical therapy and has published a case study, numerous articles, and contributed to several textbooks in the area of sports physical therapy.
Jason received his Master's of Science degree in Physical Therapy from Springfield College. He completed a sports physical therapy fellowship at Duke University Sports Medicine Physical Therapy in 2000. He is certified as a Sports Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists and has his certification as both an athletic trainer and certified strength and conditioning specialist. He is the former Director of Rehabilitation for the department of Athletics at Stanford University. Jason recently completed a two consecutive terms as the chairman of the knee special interest group of the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the APTA.
Furthermore, Jason has become a TPI Certified Golf Fitness Instructor through the Titleist Performance Institute. This new certification allows him to analyze your golf swing biomechanics while identifying physical restrictions that may be limiting your golf game.

M. Irish Thompson, PT, MSPT, PES, CES
M. Irish Thompson, PT, MSPT is a staff physical therapist at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy and Performance Development Center. Irish is responsible for daily patient care and has experience working with patients of all ages and athletic backgrounds. Irish enjoys treating all musculoskeletal injuries, especially those involving the spine, shoulder and lower extremities.
For the first 2-1/2 years of his career, Mr. Thompson practiced outpatient orthopedic physical therapy at Athletico, Ltd., located in Chicago, Illinois. In addition to his skill and knowledge of orthopedic physical therapy, Irish continued his education in a four-course series involving diagnosis and treatment of spine-related conditions with the McKenzie Back Institute. Mr. Thompson enjoys his role in educating patients and new therapists in orthopedic rehabilitation, and has been credentialed as a clinical instructor by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
Irish received his Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree in 2005 from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology before attending physical therapy graduate school in Philadelphia.
Irish is also certified as a Performance Enhancement Specialist as well as a Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
Irish and his wife Liz are the parents of two beautiful and adventurous children, Claire and Emmett. His interests include kayaking, hiking, distance running, and enjoying the wonderful North Carolina outdoors.

Christopher J. Kosobucki, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, CSCS
Christopher J. Kosobucki, PT, DPT, OCS, COMT, CSCS, is a staff physical therapist at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy and Performance Development Center. Chris received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Duke University in May 2004. Chris completed his undergraduate studies at James Madison University in May 2001, where he received a B.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science.
Upon completion of his education, Chris began his career working in a private outpatient orthopedic clinic in Chapel Hill, where he was able to continue developing his skills in general outpatient orthopedic/sport medicine physical therapy. He also became proficient in custom orthotics fit and fabrication for a variety of orthopedic conditions and further developed his manual therapy skills with respect to spine, shoulder, foot/ankle, knee, and hip pathologies. Chris developed a strong presence with local Chapel Hill athletic groups, including high school baseball and cross country/track programs, as well as acted as a liaison for clients of a local running shoe store.
In 2005, Chris became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In 2007, he became a board certified specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS) by the APTA, a credential held by less than 4% of all licensed therapists in the U.S. In 2008, Chris completed his certified Clinical Instructor certification through the APTA. In April 2010, Chris completed all educational requirements and became recognized as a Maitland Australian Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). The Maitland Approach is a world-renowned, highly effective, gentle approach to the management of neuromuskuloskeletal conditions. As of this time, with this distinction, Chris is one of less than one percent of physical therapists practicing in the U.S. and fewer than 30 therapists in North Carolina.

Nathan D. Kauk, PT, DPT, COMT, CSCS
Nathan D. Kauk, PT, DPT, COMT, CSCS, is a staff physical therapist at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy and Performance Development Center. Nate is responsible for daily patient care in the treatment of a variety of orthopedic and sports medicine pathologies. He particularly enjoys utilizing manual and therapeutic exercise techniques in working with musculoskeletal injuries of the spine, shoulder, and lower extremity.
Nate received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Iowa in December 2006. Nate completed his undergraduate studies at Dordt College in May 2004, where he received a B.S. in Exercise Science. While at Dordt, Nate competed in pole vault as a member of the track and field team.
During the first four years of his career, Nate practiced in a private outpatient orthopedic clinic in Raleigh, NC. He had the opportunity to further develop his physical therapy skills as well as expand his orthopedic and sports medicine background through ongoing education.
In 2006, Nate became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In April 2010, Nate became recognized as a Maitland Australian Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT). Chris Finn, PT, CSCS, CGFI
Chris Finn, PT, CSCS, CGFI is a staff physical therapist at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy and Performance Development Center. Chris has experience working with patients of all ages and athletic backgrounds. Chris enjoys treating all musculoskeletal injuries and has a specific interest in developing functional screens for sport injury prevention and performance training at the highest levels. This interest in quality of movement lends to his philosophy of not only fixing the particular injury, but going a step further to correct the movement pattern deficits which likely led to the injury.
For the first two years of his career, Chris worked at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill where he practiced inpatient acute care and inpatient acute rehabilitation, while for the last year he has worked in the sports medicine outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic. In his two years at UNCH, Chris was very active in research and the community. He is currently working with local doctors on research projects to reduce ACL injuries in young athletes and to decrease the risk of injury in golfers of all ages.
Chris graduated from Springfield College in Springfield, MA, where he played collegiate basketball, with a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy in 2009 and has been a Certfied Strength and Conditioning Specialist(CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association since 2008. In early 2011, Chris became one of the few dual CSCS/PT professionals to be certified by the Titleist Performance Institute as a Certified Golf Fitness Instructor(CGFI) allowing him to prevent injuries while at the same time maximizing golfers' performance and rehabilitation through biomechanical video analysis and functional screening.

Meagan H. Hasty, PT, DPT
Meagan H. Hasty, PT, DPT, is a staff physical therapist at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy and Performance Development Center. Meagan received her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Virginia Commonweatlh University in May 2010. Meagan completed her undergraduate studies at Radford University in May 2007, where she received a B.S. in Exercise, Sport and Health Education with a concentration in Sports Medicine. While at Radford, Meagan was a member of the Women's basketball team competing in the Big South Conference.
During the first year of her career, Meagan practiced in a private outpatient orthopedic clinic in Richmond, VA. She had the opportunity to develop her physical therapy skills as she treated various post-op and non-op diagnoses for patients of all ages including local high school and collegiate athletes. She also had the opportunity to treat dancers with the Richmond Ballet Company before and after their performances.
Meagan is excited to bring her expertise to Athletic Advantage, Inc.

Gary E. Johnson, LAT, ATC
Gary E. Johnson, LAT, ATC is an athletic trainer and physical therapy aide at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center. Gary is responsible for developing group exercise sessions and managing the monthly fitness program, a voluntary gym-like membership for patients and clients who want to work out in the comforts of a caring facility with immediate access to physical therapy and athletic training.
In May 2007 Gary graduated from North Carolina Central University (Go Eagles!) with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Athletic Training. Gary strove for, and achieved, scholastic excellence during his undergraduate years with the NCCU Eagles, while balancing academics, internships and employment.
As a Fitness Instructor at UNC Wellness Center, Mr. Johnson provided therapeutic exercises for debilitated members and supervised the Fitness Floor. Gary is no stranger to top quality care, having received the recognition of "Delivery of Outstanding Service Star Performance" for professionalism and keeping with the highest standards of the UNC Healthcare System.
Mr. Johnson's growing career includes membership in the NATA (National Athletic Training Association) and AAHPERD (American Alliance of Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance).

Christopher L. Hope
Christopher Hope is a physical therapy aide at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center. Chris is responsible for assisting in patient care directed by the physical therapists. Chris achieved his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Central Arkansas in 2006. He then completed a Master's degree in Business Administration from Missouri State University in 2008. Chris gained work experience as a physical therapy aide in Chapel Hill, NC before joining the staff of Athletic Advantage. He is happy to be a part of the Athletic Advantage, Inc. team and excited to meet and work with new patients.

Amanda Ingersoll, PT Aide
Amanda Ingersoll is a Physical Therapy Aide at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center. Amanda is responsible for aiding in patient care directed by the physical therapists, as well as assisting with other administrative tasks.
Amanda achieved her undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University in April 2011 and was active in the BYU Biomechanics department. She is an avid skier, and skied many of Utah's ski resorts during her free time at BYU.
Amanda gained work experience as a physical therapy aide in Gaithersburg, MD before joining the staff of Athletic Advantage. In the future Amanda hopes to enroll in Physical Therapy School, for now she is happy to be a part of the Athletic Advantage, Inc. team and excited to meet and work with new patients.

Catrice Ballard
Catrice Ballard is a physical therapy aide at Athletic Advantage, Inc. Sports Physical Therapy & Performance Development Center. She is responsible for assisting in patient care directed by the physical therapists.
Catrice received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Athletic Training from North Carolina Central University (NCCU) in 2007 and is currently completing her final semester towards a Master's degree in Athletic Administration at NCCU. Catrice has worked in the NCCU Athletic Department as a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Development (Fundraising) and Strength and Conditioning. She served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for Men's Golf, Women's Bowling, and the Softball team.
Catrice was rewarded Athletic Training Student of the Year as an undergraduate in 2007, and received the Armstrong-Hughley Award for outstanding leadership as a graduate student in 2010 and 2011.
Catrice's previous work experience includes working for Durham Public Schools as a Teacher's Assistant and Head JV basketball coach at Riverside High School from 2007 to 2009. Catrice is happy to be apart of Athletic Advantage and excited to work with the staff and patients.
